This was my last big email out of 2012 and I thought it would be a nice way to start of this blog. Thanks for 2012 and here's to all the excitement and adventures of 2013 :)

What a year 2012 has been! I don’t even know where to start, I am so grateful to everyone who has helped make this year what it has been. I left Jenolan Caves eleven months ago without a driver’s license, without a car, no PA, and only an incredibly strong will and determination to create a living through music. I started gigging by hauling my single speaker in one hand, guitar in the other, mixing desk and leads in my backpack onto trains, taxis, and lifts with family members just so I could go play and get this journey started.

Eleven months later, I now have my P plates, a car (Thanks to my Dad and Uncle Paul – I love my Dumpy Truck), a PA, a beautiful guitar, a decent number of contacts in the industry, gigs, an EP, opportunities and an amazing group of new friends who have supported me so many times along the way. I am so grateful!

Last week I traveled down to Jenolan Caves for the first time since I left my job waitressing at the caves to sing in their Christmas Carols, and it was only then that I realized just how much I have accomplished in 11 months. When I was living and working down at the caves, I was dreaming up how I wanted the year of 2012 to be. I had plan after plan running through my head, so much so that it almost sent me crazy. I was learning cover after cover, and polishing up my own songs so I could start performing again after a long hiatus from music and guitar. It is so easy to get caught up in the eternal drive of “what next?” and not stop to appreciate all that has already been accomplished. Most kids rebel by joining a rock band, I rebelled by working in an office, but my ultimate love has always been music and entertaining. It was an amazing experience to go back to the caves and spend time with old friends and colleagues and see that all the goals I had set for myself I had actually achieved. I had come full circle.
I am now taking a moment to ask myself, what do I want now? Which direction do I want to take my music and what would I like to experience? I am very excited for the year of 2013. Some of my dreams include a full length CD, playing with and collaborating with more musicians, as well as diving further into the festival scene. But before I start focusing on all of that, I would like to take a moment to stop and thank everyone, all my family, old friends, new friends, business contacts, our earth, myself, and the magic that is music for all that has occurred in this last year.

Thank you to all the amazing and beautiful people who have come to support me in my performances, to those who have given me gigs, to my Dad for being such a musical inspiration, to my Mum for her friendship and supporting the parts of me that are both music and not music, to my Aunty Mary and Aunty Liz for driving me to my gigs when the trains and taxis wouldn’t get me there, to Migs, Tess and Peter for your photos and friendship, Eliot, Gillian, Cletis, and Linda, to Minnie Marks and Siskin River for being such beautiful friends and great inspiration, to Sydney Blues and Roots Festival for having me on board, to my Uncle Sean and Uncle Jed for helping me get a foothold in the industry, I could go on forever and ever, but I would just like to say that I am so grateful to all the people who have come into my life over the last year and I am excited to see what 2013 brings!

All my love and gratitude! See you next year!!!
