One of the things I missed most about America, and in particular Austin Texas when I moved back to Australia, was the lack of funky little venues. Café’s, clubs, or even book shops that had genuine atmosphere. It seemed that here in Australia, especially outside of the capitol cities, most cafés and restaurants went about as far as supplying chairs and tables (I’m assuming from Ikea) said, here’s your food, and wham bam thank you ma’am transaction done, with no thought as to giving the place a particular feel.

The last two nights I have travelled up the NSW coast and played Friday night at The Aztec, in Forster and Saturday night at Flow, in Old Bar. And FAR OUT!!! These venues are funky!!!  They are amazing supporters of travelling and local musicians, and the best part is, THEY HAVE ATMOSTPHERE!!!

Tomorrow I am heading to Harrigan’s in Harrington to play the Sunday Afternoon session from 2-5:30pm! It’s a fantastic pub with AMAZING views, and especially fantastic at sunset … (which is when I’m playing J ) Hope to see some friendly faces out there!

I’m so stoked to have played these venues and can’t wait to come back and do it all over again! Yay to funky quirky venue’s! I’m playing The Front in Canberra at the end of this month (23rd) and they’ve got their own groove going on too! Can’t wait to check it out!

Bye from Old Bar – Laura xoxo
